After assembling my portable system, do I need to add anti-freeze if filling with water? Yes, we recommend adding 2 gallons of non-toxic, RV type anti-freeze to the portable base prior to filling with water. The base needs to be completely filled with water or sand to prevent it from tipping over. The weight to anchor the system must be inside, not outside the base. Placing weights or objects on top of the base that can slide or fall is a dangerous attempt to increase stability. Never use a system with a leaky base, even if the leak is small. Lay the basketball system down until it can be replaced. We recommend filling the base with water, as sand may limit your ability to move the base from place to place on the playing surface. What is the ground stake? Mobility is the ultimate convenience for playing basketball in the driveway. Portable sets are the most popular choice and are meant to be moved. Unfortunately, without a permanent placement portable sets may fall if precautions are not taken. The ground stake that is included with all Hydra-RIB® portable basketball systems is designed to secure the system into the ground without losing the potential for mobility. Where should I place my new portable system? Your portable basketball system is designed for play on the driveway. Avoid public areas such as sidewalks or streets. Contact your municipality for codes and regulations regarding placement on sidewalks or in public streets. |
